| Today’s digital transformation continues to have a profound and transformative effect on networks, products, and services, offering great opportunities and posing significant challenges to society and the environment. The current phase of the transformation, fueled by a confluence of technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), 5G, the Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing, virtual reality, and other immersive technologies, is crucial to responding to current global challenges and to help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. However, environmental sustainability considerations and standards must be included in the development and design of new and emerging technologies to ensure the sustainable exploration of natural resources, promote energy efficiency and sustainable consumption, reduce e-waste, and prevent environmental degradation. This session will explore the environmental impact of emerging technologies and discuss how a green digital transformation in Europe – rooted in multistakeholder collaboration, can lead the way in harnessing the full potential of emerging technologies to address pressing environmental challenges and promote global sustainability.

| Artificial intelligence can (be helpful) prove beneficial in generating useful content. However, AI-generated content can also be used (where) to replace content that should be human-generated (such as school exams) or to imitate authentic content (deep fakes). While deep fakes can be used for artistic and satirical purposes, (but) they can also contribute to (for) disinformation and defamation.
This session will discuss ways to identify AI-generated content:
- AI-based detection tools do not provide reliable identification of AI-generated content.
- Legal regulations may require AI tools to add a notice or watermark, but this can be circumvented.
- Cryptographic proof of authenticity for authentic content could help, but it is cumbersome.

The Estonian Internet Foundation brings you the needed solution – electronic identification service eeID that brings together various technologies enabling strong electronic verification on a global scale. Therefore, making electronic identification future proof, accessible, efficient and convenient not only for companies, but also to the customer.
