EuroDIG is more than just a conference! It is a platform for discussion and the exchange of ideas on emerging issues and challenges concerning the Internet. All stakeholders are invited to shape the agenda jointly and take part in the discussion. The inclusive and continuous dialogue, which culminates in an annual event, has taken place in a different European country every year since its inception in 2008. The results are conveyed in the form of ‘Messages’ which are forwarded to policy makers and fed into the annual global UN Internet Governance Forum (IGF).

EuroDIG 2022 took place from 20 – 22 June 2022 as a hybrid meeting. We are glad to have finally made it to Trieste in Italy. Colleagues from the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) had renewed their invitation to host the EuroDIG community for the annual event for the third time!

EuroDIG included a Day 0 on which organisations and initiatives could present their work, and engage with the community, followed by two full days of multi-stakeholder workshops and high-level debates. Our theme this year was: “Set the sails right!”.

YOUthDIG was held on the weekend just before EuroDIG.

EuroDIG planning process

Every year EuroDIG takes place in another European country thus bringing in new people constantly. The local community always plays a big role in the planning process, whilst the European network behind EuroDIG guarantees stability and continuity.

The Youth Dialogue on Internet Governance (YOUthDIG) is a yearly pre-event to the European Dialogue on Internet Governance (EuroDIG) aimed to foster active youth participation.
