Meet the Focal Point – Xianhong Hu

Leading up to EuroDIG 2026, we are going to introduce the people who are coordinating the collaborative session planning – our Focal Points – and their session topics.

Dr. Xianhong Hu is Programme Specialist at UNESCO’s Sector of Communication and Information. Since 2021, she has served on the Secretariat of UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Program of Information for All (IFAP), championing initiatives that promote multilingualism, Universal Acceptance, and the International Decade of Indigenous Languages (IDIL 2022–2032). Her work closely aligns with the UNESCO 2003 Recommendation on the Promotion and Use of Multilingualism and Universal Access to Cyberspace.

From 2013 to 2021, Xianhong Hu led UNESCO’s flagship project on Internet Universality R.O.A.M principles—Rights, Openness, Accessibility, and Multi-stakeholder participation. Her policy focus explores humanistic digital governance and transformation, the ethics of Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies, and ways to build inclusive knowledge societies.

At EuroDIG 2026, Xianhong Hu is the Focal Point of Main Topic 1: WSIS+20 Review Outcomes and the Path to Implementation, taking place on May 27. If you would like to contribute to this session, we warmly invite you to join the Org Team by signing up for the session mailing list.
