Travel Support Programme

We can again fund a limited number of participants which could otherwise not afford to attend the 12th EuroDIG meeting in The Hague. The application period is closed now.

We will review all applications carefully and inform accepted travellers. Travel reimbursement will be made on the basis of maximum rates that are stated here.

Eligibility criteria

In order to be considered for funding, a candidate must meet the following criteria:

  • resides in the European continent;
  • demonstrates a strong interest in Internet governance related issues;
  • submits an expression of interest, via the application form.

Review and selection

The submitted expressions of interest will be reviewed by the EuroDIG Secretariat. If the requests for funding, meeting the aforementioned criteria, exceed the available funds, a selection will be made on the basis of the submitted expressions of interest,

Preference will be given to:

  • Coordinators of a national or regional IGF (European NRI)
  • Focal Points
  • Reporters
  • Participants that never received support the years before
  • candidates from lower income economies in Europe (according to World Bank classifications)

By taking into account:

  • geographic balance;
  • stakeholder balance;
  • gender balance;

Preference may also be given to requesters who only require partial funding (i.e. a request to cover only the cost of the airfare ticket or the cost of accommodation).

Responsibilities of selected participants

Please note that participants selected for financial support will be responsible for:

  • making their own travel arrangements in the most economical way; estimated costs are to be submitted in the application form by considering that a maximum amount will be set for each region (these maximum amounts will be based on a research as published above);
  • making their own hotel bookings up to the amount of 110 EUR / night for max. 3 nights. (Find a list of recommended hotels here
  • covering costs for local transportation in the citiy of departure and arrival

Reimbursement will be made in EURO either on site, in The Hague, or by wire transfer after the event on the basis of invoices (not booking confirmations). The invoice must clearly show the name of the participant.

Selected participants will be required and expected to attend and actively participate in both the EuroDIG session planning process and the EuroDIG meeting.
