Call for expressions of interest for financial support to attend the EuroDIG 2017 meeting

Part of EuroDIG’s efforts is to encourage a stronger representation of the various European views within European and global Internet governance processes.

Within the application period we received more than 60 requests for travel support and are happy to announce that we could consider all applicants residing in the European continent to attend the 10th EuroDIG meeting, scheduled to take place on 6-7 June, in Tallinn, Estonia.

The deadline for submissions was 31 March 2017.

Eligibility criteria:

In order to be considered for funding, a candidate must meet the following criteria:

  • Resides in the European continent.
  • Demonstrates a strong interest in Internet governance related issues.
  • Submits an expression of interest, via the form indicated below.

Review and selection

The submitted expressions of interest will be reviewed by the EuroDIG Secretariat. If the requests for funding meeting the aforementioned criteria exceed the available funds, a selection of funded participants will be made on the basis of the submitted expressions of interest, and taking into account the need to achieve a diversity of participants, in terms of:

  • geographic balance;
  • stakeholder balance;
  • gender balance;
  • youth representation;
  • balance between newcomers (individuals who have not previously participated in EuroDIG processes) and experienced participants (individuals who have been previously involved in EuroDIG processes).

Please note that priority will be given to eligible candidates from lower income economies in Europe (according to World Bank classifications).

Preference may also be given to requesters who only require partial funding (i.e. a request to cover only the cost of the airfare ticket or the cost of accommodation).

Responsibilities of selected participants

Please note that participants selected for financial support will be responsible for:

  • Making their own travel arrangements. Cash reimbursement will be made on site, in Tallinn, on the basis of an invoice (to be submitted in advance).
  • Making their own hotel bookings. Cash reimbursement will be made on site, in Tallinn, on the basis of an invoice.

Selected participants will be required and expected to attend and actively participate in both the EuroDIG session planning process and the EuroDIG meeting. They may also be asked to act as remote moderators or rapporteurs for the various sessions included in the EuroDIG programme.
